This program offers a fun, impactful way to learn financial lessons—giving students a “Bite of Reality” that prepares them for a brighter future.
BUILDING FINANCIAL SKILLS—ONE DECISION AT A TIME
Guided by Silver State Schools Credit Union (SSSCU) volunteers, students step into the world of money management through this immersive, hands-on simulation.
What to expect at each Bite of Reality workshop:
- Mobile devices lead students through real-life financial scenarios.
- Each student is given a fictional role that includes an occupation, salary, credit score, a family, student loan debt, credit card debt, and medical insurance payments.
- They visit stations to make “purchases” like housing, transportation, food, and clothing—all staffed by SSSCU volunteers.
- A Credit Union station is available to help manage their finances, especially if they overspend their budget.
- Students walk away with a deeper understanding of the power of smart money management and the impact of responsible spending choices.
